How to… Digital Design: interfacing your way to real life results
In partnership with i-Design
1 hour • Panel of 3 • Talk + Q&A – 11.30am, Tuesday 29 June
If you want to change the way people see and interact with the world, you’ll have to take control of the way potential employers see you. Identifying your potential, communication and networking are vital in this fast-moving and exciting arena. With this rare opportunity, you can do all three.
The event chair will be Malcolm Garrett RDI, creative director at graphic design consultancy Applied Information Group (AIG) and creative director of i-Design, an annual conference for the interative design profession in London. He has over three decades of design experience, covering a wide range of communications, arts and entertainment media. His work throughout the 1980s with musicians such as Buzzcocks, Duran Duran, Simple Minds and Peter Gabriel is widely regarded as having a seminal influence on contemporary graphic design. For the last two decades his particular interest has been in user-experience and interface design for interactive media, across a range of platforms from web through to interactive cinema. He is a Royal Designer for Industry (RDI), and a Fellow of the ISTD.
The panel includes: Jeremy Leslie, founder of magCulture, a company specialising in content design for print and digital media; Fred Flade, creative and design director at Poke, with 13 years experience working across design disciplines with a focus on digital design and communication; and Fred Deakin, one half of the Mercury- and Brit-nominated band Lemon Jelly which has sold over half a million records worldwide. He is also one of the three founders of the award-winning design company Airside.
