Bringing creative talent and business together – working in commissioned photography
30.06.2010
Shooting on commission has an ambiguous reputation. Some photographers regard it as restricting and uncreative to shoot to someone else’s script. Others enjoy the collaborative aspects, and find that their creativity flourishes when under pressure. Many photographers, however, feel that their work just isn’t commercial enough to attract business. This seminar will discuss these issues, and consider how surprisingly open the industry is to so-called “non-commercial” photographers. We will also look at how to interpret (and write) briefs, consider the role of agents and producers, and explore how to achieve commercial success without sacrificing personal satisfaction.
